On the line
Le Sutra presents On Line, an exhibition that showcases works of renowned Indian artists for you to rediscover the inherent freshness in line drawing
Gallery Le Sutra is bringing you an exhibition that celebrates drawing as an independent art form. Curated by Shraddha Purnaye and expanding the definition of drawing from the use of the line to the use of colour, shading and other elements, the exhibition includes works of several accomplished artists including Akbar Padamsee, K.T Shiva Prasad, Sudhir Patwardhan, Bharati Kapadia, Madhao Imartey, Dilip Ranade, Yogesh Rawal, Jehangir Jani, Yashwant Deshmukh, Mithu Joardar, Prasanna Ghaisas and Santosh More.
Titled, On Line, this exhibition aims to help rediscover the freshness and spontaneity inherent in line drawing, which is now fully recognised as its own art form. The drawings of each artist will provide an opportunity to scrutinise various purposes of drawing, from an accurate description to an informal notion of dramatic impact.
Shraddha Purnaye, the curator of the show tells us, “Drawing is usually exploratory, with emphasis on observation, problem solving and composition. It has a graphic quality that cannot be duplicated by any other medium. Moreover, it helps us to rediscover the freshness and spontaneity inherent in line.” For art lovers, this exhibition is a must visit.
