Hop On Board!

A new soft play establishment called Hop N Bop has opened its doors for children. Priyanka Singh pops in to check it out

The paucity of constructive/recreational things to do and places to go to for children is being realised by many small and big entities and international children’s fitness centre chains. Another one that has created its own dot in this burgeoning business is a new 2,000 square foot soft play area in Bandra called Hop N Bop. Hop N Bop mainly comprises of two zones — Little Monsters (six months to three-year-olds) and Big Monsters (above three-year-olds to eight-year-olds).

The entrance of Hop N Bop is extremely appealing — to children and adults alike. Enter their space and you will think, ‘2,000 square feet, really?’ Yes, the area is indeed that big but it seems cramped because of a modest sized café (with tables and chairs) that they have set up inside to cater to parents. The ideology behind this café is that when children play, parents who choose to stay back can relax, hang around and mingle.

The café is a good addition here, especially for small children as they can blend with the other toddlers more freely and comfortably as they know that their parents are just around the corner. While the café provides a distance between the parents and children, it also gives the tiny tots a sense of security and parents something to do while they kill time. It is more convenient for working parents, as they can come pick their children up directly after work and grab a bite at the café while waiting for the session to get over.

Coming to their activities, they have six classes in all (scheduled for different age groups), which are a mix of learning, Spanish language sessions, cooking, art, Zumba, dance and music. There are five to six helpers around, during each one hour session to take care of the children. They also organise theme birthday parties on their premises. They told us that a highlight of Hop N Bop is their water bed, which is part of the Little Monsters area.

To put it in a nutshell, I think Hop N Bop is a good way to kickstart some activities in your child’s life. The fact that it is a mix of learning and playing makes it even more appealing.
