The Bombay Bronx gets a makeover and Trisha Ghoroi drops by to check out their new avatar

Located next to a busy road on Breach Candy, The Bombay Bronx is a place where you can unwind on any evening for some flavourful concoctions and light snacks. But, the new TBB offers more than just finger food. With their revamped menu, they have included a mains section in case you decide to fill up. We dropped in on a weekday and were surprised to see it buzzing with a lively crowd.

Touch of local life
The new décor incorporates the lifeline of Mumbai through hilarious murals of local trains and Mumbaikars painted on the wall. They also have Lego figurines drawn on the wall, one dressed as a police constable caught our eye, and a wall dedicated to Big B’s famous dialogues. The new look is far more polished and refined than the previous one.

Food talks
To start an evening, there’s nothing better than cocktails, and so we ordered the Peach Martini (Rs 350) and Pani Puri Caipirojka (Rs 350). The martini was a little sweet with a hint of peach and a strong taste of gin, while the Pani Puri Caipirojka was a complex blend of flavours replicating our favourite street food.

Moving on to the food, we picked the Masala Fried Lotus Roots Crispy Chips (Rs 240). The lotus roots were spicy and crisp, but tend to get soggy after a while. Next, we tried the Baked Goat Cheese and Green Chilly Cigars (Rs 290) and Loaded Fries, Chicken Tikka, Makhani Gravy, Pickled Onion (Rs 250). The cigars were a let-down as the texture of the filo pastry didn’t go well with the goat cheese filling. On the other hand, the loaded fries were one of the best we’ve ever had! A creamy, thick gravy with chicken and dollops of cheese, this was our favourite dish on the menu.

From the kebab menu, we decided to go for the Chicken Malai Kabab (Rs 280), which is their signature dish, and it didn’t disappoint one bit! The dish included soft, juicy chicken delicately flavoured with spices and a dip at the side.

From their flat bread menu, we ordered the Chicken Kheema Pizza (Rs 295), which came with jalapeños, caramelised onions and rocket leaves.

From their mains, we decided to try the Bronx Signature, Tagliettele Pasta, Bhuna Chicken Kheema, Parmesan Cheese (Rs 310). Though the pasta was nicely cooked and had a bite, the cross of Italian and Indian flavours didn’t quite sync for us.

Wrapping up

The new TBB is a better version of the original and with the diverse menu it will surely attract people’s attention.
