Tedx Event: Be Inspired!

The eighth edition of TEDxGateway touches down this weekend, and there will be over 25 profilic speakers inspiring audiences on a range of topics including science and technology, inventions and creative art forms. This year’s theme is Ideas Worth Spreading. On the science front will be Prof. Shubha Tole who studies the developing brain. Her research pursues on the signalling centre in the developing brain that acts as an “organiser”. Captivating audiences will also be 16-year-old researcher Akash Manoj, who is working on low-cost health-care diagnostics, as well as Australian musician, instrument maker, composer, musical director, Linsey Pollak, who has gained a reputation for making and playing instruments from discarded objects such as rubber gloves, brooms and bins. The youngest among the speakers is ninth-grader Anushka Naiknaware, who won an award for her innovative prototype of a printable biosensor for wound dressings.
