Sadhya Tuesdays

In Kerala, any celebration is incomplete without a traditional Sadhya feast which encompasses a wide variety of vegetarian dishes served on a plantain leaf. Inspired from the western coastal areas of India Curry Tales in Khar brings the traditional Sadhya feast every Tuesday for Rs 450++.

Curated from homes and with ingredients carefully procured from the region, the flavours of the Sadhya menu showcase the fabric of evolved kitchens and includes 26 varieties of dishes starting with Upperi and Sharkara Varatti, followed by Erisherry, Pulissery, Chor and ending on a sweet note with Palada Pradhaman.

Curry Tales in Khar offers the quick and humble home-cooked coastal meal with their newest Tiffin Tales menu, with a wide variety of vegetarian and non vegetarian combo meals, which includes a main dish served with Dosas, Appams, Porotas or Rice.  The vegetarian menu includes dishes such as Mahe Sambhar, Nadan Potato Curry, Paneer Pollichadu and Potato Ghee Roast while the non-veg menu has Fish Fry, Chicken Varatha Curry, Prawn Pulimulagu and Omlette Pulimulagu, among other things.

Showcasing Urdu culture

Godrej India Culture Lab has organised an evening of contemporary Urdu culture--Urdu Culture Now. The Lab believes that though India is a multilingual land, the vibrancy and beauty of the Urdu language is being systemically invisibilised from the cultural milieu.'Urdu Culture Now' seeks to explore the state of Urdu culture in Mumbai and will showcase its multiple intersections with modernity, digital and urban India.

The event is curated by the first batch of Godrej India Culture Lab Leadership Programme Fellows--seven students from humanities colleges across Mumbai who are spending the summer at the Culture Lab.

Comedy night

It’s Open Mic Night at Nau Se Barah, Kopar Khairane, with Comics Unplugged (Vol. 9). You can also head there to watch rib-tickling performances by new amateur comics and featured artists in association with Frontline Comedy and Comedy Central on Wednesday, June 6 (8.30 pm and 9.30 pm). Savour the delicious food and starry cocktails as you revel in the jokes. The event is hosted by Andy Reghu and the featured acts will be presented by Mayur Kamble and Mandar Bhide. The Best Open Mic Artist will be announced at the end of the show. He/she will be chosen by the judges and the audience will get an assured five-minute spot at the next ‘Aces of Comedy Event’. The event is non-ticketed.

Book launch

Anita Shirodkar launches her book Sitanshu, the second part of the mythological trilogy Guardians of the Blue Lotus on June 1.  Set in ancient India, the trilogy explores the mystical kingdom of Kamalkund, whose heir is Aryavir, a blue-eyed prince who is blessed by Indivara, a sacred blue lotus. Aryavir, the protagonist, with his beloved tiger Kar and friend Sitanshu, faces the battles that life throws his way. In this novel, the journey of the characters continues as the plot thickens against the backdrop of the war between Kamalkund and Kalipuri. Sitanshu, a brother to Aryavir in all but name, discovers the secrets buried behind his own heritage. The author will be in conversation with anchor and actor Roshan Abbas.
