Chinese Photography Now Exhibition

Get to know more about Chinese art at the Chinese Photography Now exhibition. This exhibition has been put together by Chu Chu, Liu Yue, Luo Yongjin, Ma Kang Yang Yongliang and Yan Xinfa. It showcases contemporary photography in China as dynamic, mature and politically conscious. Abhishek Poddar, the art curator and director, says, “The exhibition presents six artists whose work is emblematic of the various themes and devices being explored by Chinese photographers today. This exhibition has been put together in collaboration with OFOTO Gallery in Shanghai and marks the first of a series of group exhibitions that Tasveer intends to highlight from Asian countries.”

Olio’s New Menu

Olio is all Italian now. Savour the true taste of Italy as you enjoy the gorgeous view of the Arabian Sea on the al fresco deck overlooking the pool or the cosy ambience of a contemporary wine cellar restaurant setting. Executive chef of Novotel, Ranveer Brar, says, "Italian food never goes out of fashion and the new menu at Olio reflects our strong belief in Italian culture and gastronomy." New dishes include Pesce Al Olio, Carmelised Onion & Crumbled Homemade Lamb Sausage, Suppli Telefono and Linguini Arragosta Tossed with Crawfish Chunks.

Ladies night at Elbo Room
Elbo Room is coming out with ladies night. From now on, every Wednesday all the ladies will be treated to a free kamikaze shot. You can also choose from a variety of cocktails such as the Mimosa, Austin Powers, Manhattan, Pink Lady, Bailey's Screamer, Rusty Nail and Vodka A.M. Also on the menu are chocolate-based cocktails such as Chocolate Martini, Malibu Choconutini and a variety of rainbow coloured cocktails. Ravi Sharma, the owner of Elbo Room, tells us, “Our ladies night does not have the traditional wine or Cosmopolitan on offer, but you can sit back and enjoy a free kamikaze shot.”

Belgium food fest at Taj Mahal Palace
Explore the creativity of Belgian cuisine at a special Belgian Food Festival being held at Shamiana, the all-day dining restaurant, at The Taj Mahal Palace. Guests at Shamiana can savour the delectable Belgian spread prepared with traditional ingredients, potatoes and herbs as well as enjoy Geueze Belgium beer. Chef Hemant Oberoi, the grand executive chef, says, “Indians nowadays are exposed to different global cuisines and are more discerning about their tastes thanks to their travel and living styles. The Belgian food festival is another example of how the Taj Hotels understand the changing tastes and interests of its patrons.”

Love feast at Neel
Neel has come out with a special aphrodisiacal menu which aims to pay a tribute to the forgotten culinary traditions and ingredients of love and lust. To spice things up, the menu includes a list of aphrodisiacs and their effects so as to assist diners in ordering the right dishes. Chef Mukhtar Quereshi tells us, “The specially created menu at Neel exalts sultry flavours of aphrodisiacs that have been part of our ancient wisdom. Aphrodisiacs such as cardamom, clove, almonds, saffron, coconut and fennel form the core of each of the dishes.” The menu features dishes such as Tandoori Pepper Lobster, Murg Chandi Korma and Hazavi Kabab. For dessert, the menu offers options such as Rose Kalakand and Kashmiri Khan Phirni. Also available is a bottle of Moët Rosé Impérial champagne — the most seductive expression of the Moët & Chandon style.

Irish House has come out with a four-course power lunch. The lunch, priced at `350 (plus taxes), offers a soup of the day, a salad, an entrée or main course and a dessert. You will also get a soft drink which you can upgrade to beer or wine for an extra `95. Ashay Desai, the corporate chef at Irish House tells us, “Anyone who is looking for a healthy, fulfilling and delicious meal to pep up their afternoons, will find great value in the Power Lunch. The menu includes International and European Cuisine such as the King Steak with potatoes and artichoke and Spinach and Waterchestnut Crepes.” Also, do not miss out on the panna cotta with mixed fruit compote to end your lunch on a sweet note.
