This restaurant stands steadfast and iconic at Ballard Estate, Opp. New Custom House, Mumbai 400 038 for the last 95 years! It was flagged off in 1923 by the late Rashid Boman Kohinoor and is now efficiently run by his enthusiastic, evergreen and nonagenarian son Boman Kohinoor who is always there to welcome his guests with a smile on his lips and a spring in his heart! His son Afshin is now the main pillar of this restaurant who runs the show efficiently and deligently looking into every aspect of the business so that the taste, flavours of Parsi Irani cuisine remains the same much to the satisfaction of their varied clientele who range from businessmen to food lovers to foreigners and V.I.P’s, inspite of it being a non-frilly, non-ac restaurant and that speaks volumes for itself!

The star of the menu are the Berry Pulavs (with berries imported from Iran) which stand out as the most tempting and delectable dish which is served to you as per your choice – Prawns, Chicken, Mutton, Kheema, Paneer, Veg. or Egg Berry Pulav.  Any chicken or mutton dish is served boneless. The freshest fish-patra (patrani fish) with big sized pomfrets prepared in green chutney is our all time favourite to be relished with their super soft wholesome rotis which are simply unmatched in their texture and content.  Afshin apprises me when I complement on his rotis “the secret lies in adding cream, butter, ghee, oil, salt and water to the wheat flour in the right proportion while kneading the whole mix for 30 minutes”. No wonder then that they are even parceled off to London by their clients.

Other Parsi specialities include Chicken/Mutton Dhansak which is relished by all communities and is even served as Veg. Dhansak, Mutton/Chicken cutlets with gravy, Sali Boti or Sali Chicken are equally lip smacking along with fried Bombay Ducks!

Delectable bites of Caramel Custard, Misti Doi or Chocolate Mousse serves as a perfect luscious dessert.
