Ervad C.A. Vispi S. Dastur

One of the notable personages in India and abroad, Ervad C. A. Vispi S. Dastur is a practicing Chartered Accountant and senior partner of V. S. Dastur & Co. and D.J. Jasavala & Co., who has completed more than 50 years in practice and still continues the same with great fervour!

He has won several Gold, Vermeil and other medals at State, National, International & World Philetelic Exhibitions.  He has been a member of Govt. of India, Philatelic Advisory Committee in the Ministry of Communications & I. T. since 1977.  He is the President of Empire of India Philetelic Society and has been National Commissioner for India and a Jury Member for several International & World Philetelic Exhibitions.  He is the first and only Parsi to have signed the World Tripartite Agreement between Philetelic Congress of India, the F.I.P. International Federation of Philately World Federation & Govt. of India. He is the first Indian, Asian & Non-European to win the Roake International Trophy of the India Study Circle (U.K.) for original research in Philately. He has authored two publications on “India Used Abroad”.

He is the President of the Bombay Parsee Association (B.P.A. Estb 1920) which conducts Kusti Spinning & Weaving Competitions, Prayer Recitation Competition where participants range from 3 to 85 years, continuously for the last 90 years!  The B.P.A. looks after 3 monuments in Mumbai and pays homage to Dr. Dadabhoy Naoroji and Sir Hormusji Cawasji Dinshaw Adenwalla on their birth anniversaries and the War Memorial at Khareghat Colony where homage is paid not only to the Parsi members but to other members too of the Armed Forces who laid down their lives for their country during World War I & subsequent Wars.  It also encourages and felicitates the youth and elders by presenting the B.P.A. Achievement Awards.

He is the President & Trustee of The Iran League (Est. 1922) which holds several competitions such as Essay, Shahnameh, Rangoli, Western & Indian music.  It awards the Maneckji Limji Hataria Bravery Award to a Parsi Member of the Armed Forces.

He is the President of the Rahnumae Mazdiyasni Sabha which holds Jashan Ceremonies & Religious Lectures on Behram Roj at Karani Agiary, Cusrow Baug.

He is the President of FOZAWAC (Federation of Zoroastrian Associations for Welfare & Culture) which conducts various All-India Parsi sports competitions and gives cash and other awards for academic achievements.

He is the Chairman of District Benevolent Society  (Estb. 1831), Sir J.J. Dharamshala – the first free cosmopolitan Home for Destitute Aged, Soonawalla Agiary – Mahim and Trustee of Athornan Mandal, Dadar Athornan Madressa, Save Udwada Trust and Adenwalla Baug.

Travelled extensively in India and abroad, Vispi has worked tirelessly devoting his time and energy for the welfare of the Community for the past several decades with great optimism.

Simple, sincere, humble and committed, Vispi has achieved great accolades in life. His graciousness and admirable traits sets him as an exemplary person for the younger generation to follow and enumerate.
