All set to complete a century of existence in 2019, Café Excelsior is a favourite Irani food joint for students and working professionals alike. Have all these years brought change in the food served at the eatery? “Not at all,” said Anand, a spokesperson of Café Excelsior, adding that their USP is, in fact, the fact that the taste of the food served at the café hasn't changed even a bit over the years.  “There are many occasions when people, who are currently based abroad, come to the café to meet their old friends when in town,” he said, adding that it's overwhelming to listen to their stories and realise just how important the role of the café has been to create memories for a group, where friends have known each other for over 30 years! These nostalgic conversation keep us going, he said. When it comes to food and presentation, the cutlery is simple and has not been changed for fancier options. Popular dishes continue to include cutlets and curries. “Our chicken rolls and sandwiches are a hit because of the special mayonnaise that we make,” said Anand. So, if you are planning to visit soon, do ask for something off the menu that contains a dollop of this special mayonnaise!
