Despite his illustrious lineage of being the grandson of the legendary late film-maker Shakti Samanta (who made landmark movies like ‘Amar Prem’, ‘Aradhana’, ‘Kati Patang’ and ‘Kashmir Ki Kali’) the affable Aditya Samanta preferred to keep a low profile all these years. Now that his debut movie ‘Yeh Jo Mohabbat Hai’ produced by his dad Ashim Samanta (also a noted film-maker) is being released shortly, Aditya is finally making tidal waves in the ocean of media limelight.
That Aditya is paired opposite Nazia Hussain, who besides being Sanjay Dutt’s niece, had made her recent debut in a Hindi flick titled ‘Say Yes to Love’, has definitely been an advantage. As it added to her lineage and experience factor, besides her stunning looks, that is. Interestingly, none other than veteran but evergreen exu- berant actress Farida Jalal (the ‘mascot’ heroine of the junior Rajesh Khanna in ‘Aradhana’) plays a pivotal role of a supporting character in ‘Yeh Jo…’ . Madame Farida had specially turned up at the music launch event (and so did ‘guest’ Moushumi Chatterjee) to bless the screen couple.
The movie ‘YJMH’ is supposedly a clever rip-off of the legendary romantic saga ‘Romeo and Juliet’. Counters Aditya, “My dad (Ashim) and director Shree Narayan Singh have done a fabulous job in blending Indian family staunch traditions with modern values. Portions of the movie are shot in Poland and also in Udaipur.”
