Airtel, SK Telecom tie-up to build high speed network, 5G
Telecom operator Bharti Airtel yesterday announced strategic partnership with South Korean telecom operator SK Telecom, known for using latest technologies, to build the most advanced telecom network in India. The two companies will also collaborate on an on-going basis to evolve standards for 5G and advanced technologies like network functions virtualisation (NFV), software-defined networking (SDN) and Internet of Things (IoT), Bharti Airtel said in a statement.

Gold plunges Rs 500 on global cues, muted demand
Gold recorded a steep fall of Rs 500 in its prices to close at Rs 30,350 per 10 grams at the bullion market yesterday, tracking a weak trend overseas amid tepid demand from local jewellers. However, silver recovered by Rs 200 to Rs 41,850 per kg on scattered enquiries from industrial units and coin makers.

MSME ministry holds talks with CPSEs on public procurement
The MSME ministry yesterday said it has conducted detailed consultations with public sector enterprises on ways to achieve the target of mandatory procurement from SC/ST entrepreneurs. The Public Procurement Policy 2012 stipulates that 4% of the total procurement shall be done by ministries, departments and Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs) from the entities owned by SC/ST. National 'SC/ST Hub Conclave' was chaired by Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Secretary Arun Kumar Panda. Representatives from about 50 CPSEs from 20 ministries also participated in the conclave.

China Lodging Group inks MoU with OYO, invests USD 10 mn
Hospitality firm OYO yesterday said that China Lodging Group has signed an agreement to invest USD 10 million (over Rs 63 crore) as equity in the company. OYO had recently raised USD 250 million in a funding round led by Softbank Vision Fund. As per the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), partnership will combine the technology strengths and operational expertise of OYO with China Lodging Group's extensive coverage and strong development capability in China, OYO said in a statement. Commenting on the pact, OYO Founder & CEO Ritesh Agarwal said, "We are very excited about this partnership – both in terms of potential opportunities and existing synergies through our complementary strengths and capabilities".

Rotary International to conduct job fair
The Rotary International District 3141, under the leadership of District Governor Rotarian Prafull Sharma will be conducting job fairs for local employment on September 16th, 17th, 23rd and 24th at various locations in Mumbai between 10 am to 4 pm. At Cosmopolitan Education Society College in Andheri (W) on Sept 16 and 17, at Bhanu Jyoti Building near Matunga (C.R.) Station on Sept 23 and 24 and at Kunjal Kishor Rotary Auditorium in Mulund (W) on Sept 23 and 24. Rotary aims to provide employment to more than 1000 job seekers.

'Workplace culture has high impact on cos fin performance'
With workplace culture being a top priority for companies globally, most leaders believe that it has high impact on an organisation's financial performance, according to a survey. "About 92% of the leaders from successful companies believe that workplace culture has high impact on company's financial performance or is critical to reaching financial goals," according to Dale Carnegie's white paper on 'Transforming Attitudes and Actions: How Senior Leaders Create Successful Workplace Cultures'. "The research has shown us that the workplace culture has 20-30% differential outcome on company's performance," Dale Carnegie Training India Chairperson and MD Pallavi Jha said.

IACC Moots Guarantee Fund for promoting Indo-US ventures
The Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC) has suggested setting up of a “Guarantee Fund” for promoting Indo-US ventures in each others’ country, particularly for funding enterprises in small and mid-sized space. IACC is likely to impress upon the government the need for setting up such funds at its forthcoming meeting with the Union Finance Secretary Ashok Lavasa in Mumbai at the IACC’s flagship event - Annual Convention- to be held on 18-19 September.

'Need to tap potential on Indo-US synergy on renewable power'
Renewable hybrid projects are key to ensuring uninterrupted power supply and there is a need to explore full potential on this front, said US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) Secretary Nolty Theriot. The USISPF is a Washington headquartered not-for- profit body focused on deepening business ties between the US and India. "Renewable hybrid projects have emerged as a promising solution to power issues and the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has taken a lead on capitalising on this opportunity," Theriot said in a statement.

Twitter inks over 35 premium video content deals in APAC
Microblogging platform Twitter yesterday said it has signed more than 35 partnerships in the Asia Pacific region for premium video content. Twitter has joined hands with entities like International Cricket Council (ICC), Filmfare Awards, NDTV and Network18. These partnerships will help bring hundreds of hours of new exclusive videos and live original programming, live games and events on to the platform, Twitter said in a statement.
