The two members of the Sanatan Sanstha nabbed in connection with the Malegaon blasts on Monday are planning to approach the State Human Rights Commission over alleged brutality while questioning. On Tuesday, N. Madhava, a member of the Hindu right-wing organisation, informed the media that the duo, Vinay and Uday, were mentally and physically harassed by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) team.
“Yes, they were physically and mentally tortured. The families of the two have also been harassed by the team. Thus, we have decided to approach the State Human Rights Commission on this,” revealed Madhava.
Vinay and Uday were picked up by the investigators from Mangalore. The NIA, while probing the Malegaon blasts had, in the recent past, revisited the blast site to conduct a fresh probe.
Some other accused, who were released on bail late last year, had also accused the state Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) of falsely implicating them. The ATS was earlier handling the probe in the case.
