MUMBAI GRIPPED IN VIOLENT CLASH, CALL FOR MAHARASHTRA

Dalit anger spills onto the streets of Mumbai, ripple effect of Ambedkar event in Pune

The violence at Bhima Koregaon is all set to turn into a major storm as Bharip Bahujan Mahasangh (BBM) leader Prakash Ambedkar has called for a Maharashtra 'bandh' today to protest the state government's failure. Ambedkar has alleged that Hindu Ekta Aghadi is responsible for the deadly violence which took place on Monday.

Several pockets of Mumbai were tense yesterday as the city witnessed violent clashes with several Dalits taking to the streets and forcefully ordering the closure of shops. The Dalit protestors were venting out their anger (after the meet took a violent turn), when on Monday afternoon, groups of Dalits, who were on way to an event near Pune city to mark 200 years of the commemorative event of the Bhima Koregaon battle, were attacked and their vehicles badly damaged.
