The civic body on Tuesday demolished a school which had encroached a 90 ft road in Mankhurd for the past 15 years

In its latest attempt to free roads from illegal encroachments, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has demolished an entire school which had encroached a 90 feet road in Mankhurd from the past 15 years. The school was constructed by Siddharth Education Board on an area of 150.970 square meters of the road.

The demolition was carried on Tuesday, April 18, by the BMC officers of M/East ward post with widening and repairing of the road being started immediately. According to the BMC, the demolition will ease traffic in the subway which falls below the Mumbai-Pune Express Highway and Harbour line of Central Railway. The road will be thrown open for traffic in five days after the completion of repairs.

The demolition was conducted under the assistance of Bharat Mote, ward officer of M/East ward and with the help of 15 BMC workers, two JCBs and one dumper.
