Book A Smile attempts to bring smile on faces of underprivileged women

Various programmes were organised for the underprivileged women in order to make them independent and self sufficient

In order to celebrate the International Women's Day today, the Book A Smile, a charity initiative of BookMyShow has been attempting to bring a smile on 100 underprivileged women in Malwani and Rajasthan from February 29.

Book A Smile along with Concern India Foundation trained 100 women in Malwani and women artists in Rajasthan in vocational courses, craft and arts to make them self sufficient. The Book A Smile initiative further picked up 300 girls from NGOs in the city and gave them a tour of the BookMyShow office in order to expand and do field trip in order to show the functioning of the office.

Farzana Cama Balpande who heads the BookASmile initiative has worked in the field of education for 20 years and with the motive of giving back to the society she moved to charity. Interacting with the ADC, Balpande expressed the plans of the organisation in order to recruit girls from the NGO, she said, “We will be recruiting girls from the NGO's in BookMyShow in order to give them a different perspective and how it functions. Book A Smile did fund raising and along with Concern India Foundation has been working from February 29 celebrating the International Women's Day with various vocational, arts, crafts program for women residing in Malwani and Rajasthan. The programmes which were organised for the underprivileged women were done in order to make them independent and self sufficient.”
