Body of murdered woman lies unattended for 7 hours as cops enjoy vada pav
In a shocking display of insensitivity by cops towards the dead, the body of a young woman, found brutally murdered in an open field in Bhayandar, was left unattended for more than seven hours on Friday.
Villagers spotted the body of a young woman lying in the paddy fields close to the railway tracks between Bhayandar and Mira Road railway station, at about 8 am on Friday. The body was found lying in the field with a sharp kitchen knife thrust in the throat region.
Following information by the field owner Rakesh Chauhan, Railway Police Force (RPF) personnel reached the spot but refused to remove the body claiming that the spot was not in their jurisdiction. After a two hour squabble with their railway counterparts over each others jurisdiction, sleuths of the Bhayandar police finally decided to take action.
However, instead of immediately carrying out a spot ‘panchnama’, investigating officials from the Bhayandar police station led by Assistant Police Inspector A. Jirange was seen leisurely enjoying tea and snacks inside a small hut near the spot of crime with the field owner, even as the body remained unattended for more than seven hours.
Finally, the ‘panchnama’ was conducted and the body was sent for post-mortem late in the evening. “The woman seems to be in her early twenties. Apart from the knife found pierced in her neck, two more kitchen knives and a nylon rope from the spot. Investigations are on to ascertain the identity of the deceased,” said Senior PI Sunil Vadke.
