The GSB Seva Ganesh Mandal at Matunga founded by the Gowd Saraswat Brahmin community is often known as Mumbai’s ‘Gold Ganesh’! The eco-friendly idol is made out of clay with dissolvable paint. The prasadam here is served in banana leaves and also distributed in eco-friendly packets. Even tea here is served in stainless steel containers instead of plastic. The garbage generated here is bio-degradable and minimal, despite the lakhs of people who visit.
