Vinod Channa is a Mumbai-based celebrity fitness trainer, with over 22 years of experience in the fitness industry. Vinod is known as one of the best fitness trainers in India and is one of the 'Top 10' rated fitness trainers  in India, with knowledge of different types of fitness training.

Early Taunts
From Vinod's childhood to adulthood, he was not popular being a lean boy amongst his family, friends and neighbourhood. People used to bully him and tease him with the word 'Sukda', which means a skinny boy in Hindi. Vinod was tired and fed up of him being tagged as a skinny boy. He was tired of the constant comments being made of his physique. The frequent taunts and comments by people fuelled his desire and resolve to work on his physique.

Only One Meal!
Vinod says, “I hated it when people tagged me with names and that's when I decided to work on my body. Unfortunately with my father's limited salary, we could not afford to have even one time milk. Sometimes, we had to be satisfied only with one meal in a day. Due to financial problems I could not join any standard gym. So, I joined a night college and used to work during the day.”

Net Gains
Times are changing, today every information is available on the internet. You can learn anything and everything through the internet. When Vinod started to learnthe right way to be fit, it was only the body-builders who were into fitness and others who aspired to have a fit body, who used to take tips and suggestions from them.

Three Jobs?
During his college days, Vinod worked as an accountant and even as a security guard. Vinod says, “I did three different jobs, but I was not happy working anywhere. My passion for fitness always dragged me towards it. When I started working, my family started expecting a lot from me as I was the eldest son.”

Premier Victory
There were circumstances when Vinod had to survive the day with half a 'roti' but his passion for fitness pumped his energy to another level. Vinod later realised that only working out was not giving him results, nutrition was equally important to meet the needs of the body. Vinod participated in one of the body-building championships and won it! This victory motivated him to go  further on the fitness path he had adopted. After putting in a lot of efforts, he won awards like 'Mr. Mumbai Gold Medal 2008', 'Mr. Mumbai Silver Medal' - two times, 'Mr. Maharashtra Silver Medal' - two times, 'Novice Mr. Mumbai Champion of champion', 'Mr. Jogeshwari Champion of champions' and many others.

Learning Curve
Vinod worked very hard to make his career in fitness. He aimed high and wanted to be recognised by the world's Top rated personal trainers. He started learning and experimenting with new techniques and implemented all different types of workout routines and diets to know how his body would react from one change to another.

First Celeb!
Vinod struggled for 15 years and his business was  fluctuating throuigh various highs and lows, but he never gave up on his aspirations. Once, while training his client with different techniques, he later approached him to train his cousin, Riteish Deshmukh and that's how Vinod got his first celebrity client. Vinod says, “I believe in giving results to people and because of my dedication one of my clients suggested my name to Riteish Deshmukh. After this opportunity, I never looked back. Riteish Deshmukh was very happy as he got good results for the movie 'Houseful-1'. I also trained all the co actors of 'Houseful-1'.”

No Back-Up!
It spelt  glorious days for Vinod when the city was finally recognising his abilities as a fitness trainer and when half of Bollywood joined him. But unfortunately, he was detected with jaundice and was bogged down with a severe back problem. It was yet another tough time for Vinod. But Vinod's never- say-no attitude brought him back into the business.

Top-drawer Clientele
After Riteish he got the opportunity to train Ashish Chudhary, John Abraham for 'Force', 'Race-2', 'Shoot out at Wadala', Genelia D'Souza, Jiya Khan, Sohail Khan, singer Abhijit Sawant, Music director Shekhar, Shamita Shetty, Shilpa Shetty, Raj Kundra, Harman Baweja, Aayushman Khurana, R.Madhavan, fashion designer Krishika Lulla, Purna Patel daughter of Minister Praful Patel), Smriti Shinde (daughter of Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde).

Fitness Motto
When asked  about his secret mantra of life and fitness Vinod replied, “I believe in hard work and giving results to people. If you are good at something, one should be dedicated and passionate about it. There will be lot of challenges but we should not lose hope. We should keep on trying until we get success. Keep on reading about fitness, latest workout trends in the market and accordingly keep updating yourself. Only your knowledge will take you to the higher level. Don't get demotivated if things don’t work properly. Keep practising and it will make you perfect.”
