The Shanti Nagar police have arrested a woman's lover for allegedly slitting the throat of her husband's neck at Bhiwandi on Wednesday. The police said that it connects with an extramarital affair she was experiencing with her lover.

The deceased, Kaif alias Manoj Kumar Soni (30)  hails from Delhi and used to work in the cutlery business. He used to visit her once every couple of weeks. He was married to her for seven years in Delhi when she fled to Bhiwandi from Delhi years ago.

The accused is identified as Gulsabha (28), while her lover is identified as Rizwan Ahmad Qureshi (24). Rizwan works as a butcher in Bhiwandi.

“The deceased put his name as Kaif only for the love of his wife because her family objected to him being a Hindu,” said a source in the police.

Investigation officer M J Bagga said, "We formed two teams in which one team went to Ramnagar district and Rae Barelli district in UP. Both were hidden in a relative's home. We arrested them on Wednesday. Both have been produced before court where they have been police custody till 19 January.

“During the interrogation, we found out that her lover slit Kaif's throat with the help of Gulsabha. We got to know about the incident when neighbours alerted us that a foul smell was emanating from a neighbouring house on Sunday. We launched a manhunt for them. We reached  the spot and broke the main door and entered the house and found the body. We took the dead body and separated neck and sent to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Bhiwandi for a post mortem,” said Bagga.

Shanti Nagar police booked a case against them under Sections 302, 201 and 34 of IPC.

According to police officials, the dead body was kept in house for three days.

"We are presently questioning the locals as well as neibhours, who told us her behaviour was cruel as well as characterless,” said Bagga.
