Shiv Sena leader murder case : Mumbai Police releases pictures of prime accused

The Samata Nagar police along with the crime branch has launched a massive manhunt to nab two absconding killers in the sensational ex-Shiv Sena corporator Ashok Sawant case. Pictures of the accused were released to the public urging them to give information about the killers. The accused are Jagdish, alias Jagga Shivram Pawar (42), and Abhishek alias Abhi alias Sudham Mane.

The Samata Nagar police had previously arrested Sohail Dodhia, Ganesh Jogdand and a17-year-old boy from Pune, apart from raiding several places in Mumbai and adjoining areas outside Maharashtra, but a breakthrough is still awaited.

Police sources said around five teams are working on this case and are raiding multiple places around the districts.

Last month Sawant, a two-time municipal corporator and Shiv Sena Vibhag Pramukh, was returning home after having dinner on a scooter driven by his friend Vinod Sonawane when Jogdand, who was driving an auto, allegedly blocked them. One of the three accused in the passenger seat kicked the bike off balance.

Pawar then got out of the auto and stabbed Sawant. The police said the minor and another wanted accused took turns to stab Sawant, who sustained 20 stab injuries.

The police suspect that the assailants had consumed alcohol before the crime.
