NAB sisters gift over one lakh 'Rakhis’ to defence personnel

The specially-abled girls tie self-made sacred threads on jawans’ wrist

Posted at different borders of the country in the interest of national security. The Indian army personnels often do not celebrate festivals with their family members, as for them the national security is most important.

To make them celebrate the festival of Raksha Bandhan, the specially-abled girls of National Association for the Blind (NAB) have come forward. Over one lakh rakhis have been sent to the jawans until now and the number of which is expected to go up.

The Indian Army’s Uttar Maharashtra and Gujarat Sub Area have received a gift of over one lakh rakhis from the NAB. The rakhis are now being despatched to Kashmir's line of control located at the borders in the Kashmir Valley.

A ceremony was however held on Wednesday, on behalf of the Indian Army, the Rakhis were received by Colonel JJ Abrahim of the Headquarter UM &G Sub Area. On the occasion, a group of 20 students and faculty from the Association tied Rakhis to soldiers present here. The rakhis included tri colour rakhis too and were hand made by the differently abled girls from the association.

Colonel JJ Abrahim from the Sub area while thanking the association for their contribution made in improving the morale of the soldiers on the borders away from their families.

The students from the National Association for the Blind, India tied rakhis to Colonel JJ Abrahim of the Headquarter.
