CM informes the State Assembly that for the land acquisition by the NDA, the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) has sought relevant documents from the office of the Land Records, District Collector, Raigad.

There has been no opposition recorded from local villagers in the 40 villages to the land acquisition by the Navnagar Development Authority (NDA) for the proposed stalled Mega Oil Refinery project at Nanar, this was stated by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in a written reply to a starred question raised in the legislative assembly yesterday by Naseem Khan (Congress) and others. In his written reply to supplementary queries, he added that as per the opinion expressed by the Industries department  there is no opposition to the project or any demands of the local farmers placed on record.

He further stated that for the land acquisition by the NDA, the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) has sought relevant documents from the office of the Land Records, District Collector, Raigad. Fadnavis stated that the CIDCO intends to develop a Integrated Industrial Township on 13,409.52 hectares of land covering 40 villages of Alibaug, Murud, Roha and Shriwardhan taluka's in Raigad district. As per the government notification of January 19, 2019, the said area has been notified as Integrated Industrial Township, Navnagar area. The CIDCO has been appointed as Development Authority for the NDA.

It may be recalled that the Nanar mega oil refinery had been a major bone of contention between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Shiv Sena. The Sena had vehemently opposed the project and demanded scrapping of the project and shifting it elsewhere. It had made the scrapping of the project as one of its preconditions for the pre-poll alliance with the BJP ahead of the recent Lok Sabha polls. The Sena had claimed moral victory over the government canceling the notification. In a written reply to the supplementary query on the findings of the inquiry ordered by the government into the opposition by the local villagers and farmers, Fadnavis in his written reply merely stated “the question does not arise”.

Earlier in the day, Minister for School Education Ashish Shelar while replying to a debate raised on a calling attention motion moved by Ajit Pawar (NCP) and others regarding the drop in the HSC passing percentage this year, attributed the drop in the passing percentage to the changed pattern in evaluation of HSC question papers. He said that when compared to the March 2018 pass percentage, this year the pass percentage in HSC Science stream has seen a drop by 3.25 percent. Shelar attributed the drop in percentage to the changed paper evaluation of HSC Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Maths and Statistics. He added that the number of students securing more than 50 percent marks in these subjects has come down, this drop can be attributed to the changed paper pattern.

In his reply, he further stated that the Council of Boards of School Education in India (COBSE) had drawn up a uniform question paper pattern for these subjects. The changed pattern was supposed to have been implemented for the FYJC (Xith) from 2017-18 and for SYJC (HSC) from 2018-19. Shelar further stated that priority is being given to those students appearing for JEE, JEE Advance entrance exams for their application for revaluation and rechecking of their answersheets.
