OLX buyer decamps with expensive bike on pretext of test ride

Trying to sell a costly bike on the free online classified site OLX proved to be costly for a 23-year-old youth from Vakola, when one of the buyers fled away with the bike on the pretext of a test ride.

According to Vakola police sources, the accused has been identified as Prabhat Ravi Pujari, who was arrested from Vakola, where he is residing along with his family. The victim, in the case, had uploaded an image of his expensive bike on online marketplace (OLX) and desired to get it sold.

Reportedly, many buyers approached him but he did not sell it them. A few days ago, the accused Pujari expressed interest online and arranged to meet the victim to purchase the bike. Completely unaware of his criminal intention, the victim handed over his bike key to Pujari as the latter had requested for a test ride. When the victim agreed, Pujari got onto the bike and fled the spot within a minute.

The victim waited at the spot, but when the offender did not turn up, he approached the Vakola Police station and lodged a FIR against Pujari. After the police went through the OLX account of the accused, it was discovered that Pujari had opened an account with fake name and identity details.

The Vakola police then headed to the PCO centre from where he rang up the victim, but did not find any information. Interestingly, he was caught on the CCTV camera. The police team swung into action and with the help of an informer, he was nabbed from the Vakola locality. The accused was booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Pujari was produced before the Bandra court and has been sent to Judicial Custody until March 21, the police said.
