Not depending on her seniors including the Mayor (BJP) and the deputy mayor of her own party, who are at the helm of affairs in the Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation (MBMC), Shiv Sena corporator Tara Gharat has taken upon herself the task of combating the civic administration for deliberately ignoring the civic issues of her ward despite repeated requests and reminders.
On Monday, Gharat along with her supporters launched a sit-in agitation outside the office of the municipal commissioner in the main administrative building of the corporation in Bhayandar. The charter of demands includes the immediate resumption of the Goddev crematorium which has remained shut for renovation for the past one year, commencement of the sports complex, action against illegal structures, concrete roads and repairs of roads which have been lying in a battered condition.
Squarely blaming the civic administration for deliberately ignoring her pleas, Gharat said, “Being in power we have been religiously following up with the concerned officials hoping for some constructive and concrete solution. However, there is a limit of tolerance, we are forced to take this step. Our agitation will intensify if the administration fails to mend its ways."
