15 extra personnel to be deployed for the train to ensure safety of visitors, mostly children
Want to gain knowledge during your summer vacations, but don’t want to do so in the confines of a classroom. Here is a chance to gain wisdom while riding a train. School and college going students who get high on science are in for some fun, next week, as the Science Express will be in town from May 26 to May 29. The train is on its fourth round of touring across the country.
With close to 30,000 students being expected by the administration, close to 15 security personnel will be deployed especially for the train, to ensure no untoward incidence spoil the fun.
The 16-coach fully air conditioned train that started its fourth phase on December 4, 2010 from Gandhinagar will halt in the city next week before heading back to Gandhinagar by June 15.
Flagged off on October 30, 2007 for the first time by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, the train, which is described as an Indo-German collaborative project has been visited by 51 lakh people, travelled 50,000 km and covered 150 locations. In its fourth phase the train will cover a total of 56 cities.
“The train will be stationed at CST platform 12 for three days. No fee will be charged for viewing the exhibition, said Vidhyadhar Malegaonkar, CPRO, Central Railway. The Science Express features over 300 large format visual images, 150 video clips and multimedia exhibits.
