One after another political leaders are raising their voice against the EVMs. Shiv Sena yesterday jumped into the controversy.
Sena on Monday questioned the functioning of the EVMs. Shrirang Barne of Sena raised this issue during the zero hour in the Lok Sabha. Barne said that many parties have questioned EVMs’ functioning after the recently concluded civic polls.
Sena and BJP are at loggerheads since the last couple of months and had snapped ties in Municipal Corporation elections. Prior to Sena, Delhi and West Bengal Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Mamata Banerjee had questioned the functioning of EVMs. Kejriwal had categorically alleged that the EVMs must have been tampered with. BSP leader Mayawati has also stated that tampering of EVMs was responsible for her party's poor performance in Uttar Pradesh.
Against this backdrop, Sena joining the bandwagon has raised many eyebrows in the political circle.
Nevertheless, during the state budget presented last week, Shiv Sena, which had joined the protests with Congress and NCP, back-tracked and cooperated during the budget presentation. This has underscored the Sena's stance of double standards.
