Beat marshalls attached to police stations under the jurisdictions of the Mira Road division of the Thane (rural) police will now be seen zipping on fancy motorbikes similar to the ones seen in Hollywood flicks. In a revolutionary move aimed at making patrolling quicker and smoother for beat marshals’, Superintendent of Police - Dr. Mahesh Patil has added customized high-end, tech-loaded motorbikes to the existing fleet of vehicles. Five bikes arrived at the Kashimira Police Station on Thursday. These will be pressed into service immediately to patrol the streets during the ongoing poll season in Mira Bhayandar.

Designed by Gabriel Zuzarte at his Vasai-based unit 'Road Rage Custom Builds', the bike – a sleek 150 cc Hero Achiever – has unique and innovative features that include a siren cum public address system, a windshield with aerodynamic curves, air vents, high powered custom made red, blue and white LED flicker lights, a portable first aid kit and small boxes on either sides for the storage of a wireless system and other kits. The bikes also sport reflective stickers on the body which will enhance night visibility of the bikes. The customization of each bike carries a price tag of Rs.16,500. Presently, one bike each will be given to the Kashimira, Mira Road, Navghar, Naya Nagar and Bhayandar police stations, an official said.
