The Oshiwara police has finally registered a FIR against four persons including well known Bollywood actor Nana Patekar after actress Tanushreee Dutta accused him for allegedly molesting her during a film shoot. The FIR was registered against four person who were associated with the film.

Besides Patekar, FIRs have been lodged against director Rakesh Sarang, producer Sami Siddiqui and choreographer Ganesh Acharya, who were part of the 2008 film 'Horn Ok Pleasss'.

The actress reached the Oshiwara police station wearing a burka late Wednesday night and lodged the FIR against the four over allegations of sexual harassment. The cases against Patekar and others have been registered under IPC Sections 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 509 (Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman). “As of now no arrests have been made and we are investigating the case. Inquiries are on,” sources said.

Dutta's lawyer Nitin Satpute accompanied her to the police station, where she recorded her statement. Incidentally, Dutta's statement has been recorded in English so that she can understand the language. “They were writing the statement in Marathi. However, we requested them to write it in English so that what happened 10 years ago would not happen again,” said Satpute, while talking to mediapersons outside the Oshiwara police station.

Earlier, Satpute also submitted a 40 page document on Dutta's behalf to the police and the Maharashtra State Women's Commission, in support of her allegations against Patekar and others. The Women's Commission has asked Patekar to appear before it or file his response within the next 10 days.

After the controversy, Patekar has rejected the allegations of sexual harassment on the film sets while shooting for a special dance number for the film. The actor has sent a legal notice to Dutta and also demanded a written apology.

Dutta spoke out against Patekar two weeks ago. Since then, several people in the entertainment and media industry – including actor Alok Nath, filmmaker Vikas Bahl, singer Kailash Kher, poet-lyricist Vairamuthu and editor-turned-politician MJ Akbar – have been outed as alleged sexual predators.
Meanwhile, a group of women from the Congress party reached the Oshiwara police station yesterday in support of Dutta and demanded the immediate arrest of Nana Patekar and the three other booked by the police.
