Kamala Mills Fire Tragedy

After almost a two week long hunt, the Mumbai Police has finally arrested the three accused in the Kamala Mills fire tragedy that claimed 14 lives. After the incident, the city police had launched a massive manhunt to nab the trio, namely owner of '1 Above' pub Abhijeet Mankar (30), co-owners, Kripesh Sanghavi and Jigar Sanghavi.

On Tuesday,  the N M Joshi police arrested hotelier and alleged cricket bookie, Vishal Karia in connection with the case when they reportedly found an Audi car belonging to the accused Abhijeet Mankar.

Later, during the interrogation, the accused Karia had revealed to the police that the trio accused are likely to meet their advocate. Following Karia's direction, the NM Joshi police laid a trap and nabbed Kripesh and Jigar, and later, Mankar was nabbed from an undisclosed location in South Mumbai.

The three accused were booked under Sections 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.

The trio have been absconding since the FIR was filed and the city police was unable to trace them despite a detailed search in Mumbai, Pune, and Gujarat among other places. As soon as the case was filed, the police issued a look out circular (LOC) against them.

Sources from the NM Joshi Marg police revealed that, now the investigating teams are in search of Yug Tulli, owner of Mojo's Bistro pub, who is also on the run. Last week, Tulli's partner in Mojo's, Yug Pathak was arrested.

A few days ago, accused Yug Tuli was spotted at Hyderabad Airport along with his wife but managed to escape from the police thrice. Tuli had gone to Hyderabad in a jeep with his wife, and when a Mumbai police team reached the spot, they had already left the city. The trio accused were produced before the Bhoiwada court and will be in Police Custody till January 17. Further investigation is on and there are likely to be more arrests, police added.
