Sleuths of the Bhayandar police on Thursday claimed to have cracked the murder case of a 55-year-old estate agent, following the arrest of a 37-year-old woman from her residence in Nalasopara. The body of local estate agent, Rajendra Shah (55), alias Raju, was found in a pool of blood at his office – Khushboo Estate Agency located near the Jain Temple in Bhayander (West) on Thursday, December 29. Interestingly, despite the fact that the scene of crime is located on a busy road, nobody, not even the immediate neighbours heard his screams or see the assailants.
Investigations and eye witness accounts revealed that the accused, identified as Anita Deepak Jadhav (37), also an estate agent operating from Nalasopara, had visited Raju’s office at the time of the murder. Based on this information the police detained Anita, who after several rounds of interrogation confessed to her crime, which she claimed to have committed in order to rob gold ornaments worth more than Rs.4 lakh worn by Shah.
Anita was reportedly assisted in the crime by a male accomplice who is still at large. Shah is believed to have been drugged before being attacked by a sharp weapon, said police. Even though cops have attributed robbery as the reason and intention behind the murder, the recovery of an injection syringe and ladies hair pins from the scene of crime and the dubious background of the deceased who was known to be womaniser in the area has raised questions more than answers in the mysterious murder mystery.
Anita, a widow staying in Nalasopara, is mother to three children. Not ruling out the possibility of an illicit relationship between the victim and the accused, the investigating team has sent in the syringe for chemical analysis and are awaiting the medical reports. While Anita was remanded to police custody, a manhunt has been launched to nab her accomplice said investigating officer Assistant Police Inspector Ranjeet Sawant.
