Tribute to Jazz King Louis Banks
An array of the best artistes from across the country will be performing at a special tribute concert to honour jazz legend Louis Banks, who completes 75 years of age. Concert 'Mile Sur' is being held at the Shanmukhananda Hall, Sion, Mumbai December 8 at 7 pm. Known as the Godfather of Indian Jazz, Banks has covered every facet of the business as a composer for films to record producer. On stage that day will be well-known artistes who began their careers under the guidance of Louis Banks and would see them coming together to pay their tributes. The line-up includes Ustad Zakir Hussain, Shankar Mahadevan, Taufiq, Sivamani, Ravi Chary, Rakesh Chaurasia, Gino Banks etc.

Mukta Barve’s new wonderful play
Ambika and Rasika Productions and actress-debutant producer Sujata Marathe and actress producer Mukta Barve’s new play ‘Dhai Akshar Pem Ke’ based on the famed litterateur V P Kale’s classic novel ‘Tu Bhramat Aahasi Vaya’ mahurat was held on November 9. The play deals with middle class aspirations of running after unachievable dreams and not enjoying what they have and thus, stressing out their lives and how one should develop good relationships. The play features Ajay Purkar and Kiran Khoje in the lead with Sachin Deshpande, Atul Mahajan, Tejas Kulkarni, Nitesh Ghare, Ashwini Kulkarni and the play is directed by a veteran experimental theater director from Pune, Digpal Lanjekar. Set design by Sandesh Bendre, background music is by Nupura Niphadkar, the costumes are by Poornima Oak, lighting by Rahul Joglekar. The executive producer is Dinu Pednekar.. The play will open on December 23 at Prabodhankar Thakare Natygruh, Borivali.

Budding performers
SwarYatra and Bhagwandas Peraj Foundation presents ‘Budding Stars’ featuring the young and talented faces of Indian classical music Ishaan Ghosh on tabla and vocalist Bhaggesh Marathe. These young musicians are scheduled to perform on Sunday December 10, at 9.00 am on the 2nd Floor, Sahyog Mandir, Ghantali, Thane. This is a FREE concert and is open to all.

Sursaagar music waves
Musical treat for the connoisseurs of music as Sumedha Desai, a talented and versatile vocalist from Goa will perform in the monthly series of ‘Sursaagar’ – a rising star every month accompanied by Vibhav Khandolkar on (Tabla) and Siddesh Bicholkar on (Harmonium) at Sri Shanmukhnanda Padma Ranga Chamber Music Hall, 2nd Floor, Sion, Mumbai on Friday, December 8, 7.30 pm onwards. Entry is FREE for the concert and on first come first serve basis.

Now ‘Whatsapp Lagna’ in store
“Tu Jarashi Ye Urashi” a romantic song from Marathi film ‘What’s Up’, which skilfully brings before the audience the curiousness of lovers, was recently released in Mumbai. The film is slated to release on February 9, 2018. The song is by Hrishikesh Ranade and Nihira Joshi and picturized on Vaibhav Tatvawadi and Prararthna Behere who have excellent on screen chemistry. The film isdirected by Vishwas Joshi.

Neena Gupta launches trailer
The trailer and music of Marathi film 'Charandas Chor' was launched in Mumbai at the hands of noted actress Neeta Gupta. The film is slated to release on December 22. The film has been directed by Neena’s disciple Shyam Maheshwari. Abhay Chavan and Sonam Pawar are in the lead roles. On the occasion Neena said that up till now she had not watched a single Marathi movie. But now that Shyam Maheshwari has engaged in Marathi films, she will not only watch the Marathi films, but will also learn Marathi.
