Concert-tribute
'New Age Foundation', Bhavan's Cultural Centre, presents a tribute to Pundit Mallikarjun Mansur, with Priyadarshini Kulkarni (vocal) Pundit Biswajit Roychowdhury (sarod), Rohit Mujumdar (tabla) and Dnyaneshwar Sonawane (harmonium) on Saturday February 3, 6.30pm. Tribute to Girija Devi
An NCPA Presentation – A tribute to Girija Devi with a screening of Girija Devi’s performance ‘Bandish’. Girija Devi (1929-2017) was one of the most celebrated female vocalists of our time. In this concert, we pay a tribute to the inimitable doyenne of Benaras gharana with a screening of a variety of her retro performances rendered during the NCPA’s annual festival of Legendary Indian Composers – 'Bandish'. The performance showcases some raga-based compositions, composed by celebrated composers. Directed by Sumantra Ghosal. At the NCPA, Godrej Dance Theatre, Thursday, February 1, 6.30 pm.

Maths professor directs Marathi movie
A Marathi film 'Angaigeet', set on rural background of Maharashtra, directed by Mathematics professor Narsinh Panthula, is slated to be released all over the state on February 16. Arun Nalawade, Abhay Khadapkar, Neeta Dondc, Pratiksha Sable and Raj Bane are essaying major roles in the film which is based on the story of Bhikaji, Anusaya and Siddhu, teaching Maths to students of IITJEE in Chittur near Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh. Eventually he landed with an idea of producing 'Angaigeet' after picking the story from a newspaper. He wrote a script and sought the guidance of 'Shwaas' director Sandip Sawant to accomplish this task.
