Sur-saagar concert
The talented young and versatile singer Mugdha Vaishampayan, a vocalist gifted with a mellifluous voice will perform in ‘Sur-saagar’, featuring a rising star every month. She will be accompanied by Yati Bhagwat on tabla and Sudhanshu Gharpure on harmonium at Sri Shanmukhananda  Chamber Music Hall, 2nd Floor, Sion, on Friday, March 9  at 7.30  pm onwards. Entry is FREE
Big B releases book on Mahakavi Neeraj
Megastar Amitabh Bachchan released a coffee table book titled 'Geeton Ke Darvesh: Gopal Das Neeraj'  in Mumbai. The socio-cultural book has been published to commemorate the contribution of Mahakavi Padambhushan Dr. G D Neeraj to Hindi literature as well as for penning a large number of iconic lyrical songs for Hindi films.  Speaking on the occasion the editors, Dr Rupal Agarwal and Dr Harsh Vardhan Agarwal, said that the acclaimed Filmfare award-winning eminent lyricist Neeraj had worked with legendary music directors like S.D. Burman, Shankar Jaikishan, Jaidev and Hemant Kumar. Harsh Vardhan also disclosed that 94-year-old nonagenarian poet Dr. Gopal Das Neeraj, during a tele-con with Amitabh-jee,  had thanked the superstar, for releasing thecoffee table book on him highlighting his inspiring poetic journey of about 78 years.

Sanmaan-sangeet event
Young writer Datta Patil and veteran creative director and artiste Avinash Godbole will be given “Rangkarmi Sanmaan” and “Dhyas Sanmaan” at a function to be organised by 'Chaitra Chahul' at its 13th annual function, at Ravindra Natya Mandir  at 5.30 pm on March 18. The award comprises a shawl, a scroll and Rs.25,000. The writer Kiran Nagarkar will be present at this function while actor Mohan Joshi and ICCR Chief and MP Vinay Sahasrbudhe, will be felicitated on the occasion. As part of the function, an award-winning one act play 'Sorry Paranjape' will be presented by BMCC, Pune.  Besides a programme based on classical, devotional and folk music titled “Swardhara” will be presented by Rudra Enterprises.
Vocal tribute to Kumar Gandharva

Kanara Saraswat Association presents renowned veteran classical vocalist of Gwalior gharana Mukul Shivaputra son of legendary vocalist Kumar Gandharva in an exclusive concert celebrating centenary year of legendary musicians Pandit SCR Bhatt and Pandit Chidanand Nagarkar, accompanied by Deepak Garud on tabla and  Gyaneshwar Sonawane on Harmonium at Bharatiya Vidyabhavan, Chowpatty on Saturday, March 10, 7 pm onwards. Entry is FREE
‘Firki’ all set to release
Marathi film 'Firki'  directed by Sunuketbhai Gandhi, seeks to touch the innocent aspects of childhood and friendship, is slated to be released on March 9, all over the state. The film has won accolades and appreciation in various festival circuits. The film represents a drama full of tension and entertainment. Along with talented child artistes such as Parth Bhalerao, Pushkar Lonarkar, Abhishek Bharate, Atharva Upasani, Atharva Shaligram, the film also stars Hrishikesh Joshi, Jyoti Subhash,etc.

'Phaagun aayo rey…'
An NCPA presentation of Indian music, be it classical, semi-classical or folk, is full of melodies and compositions describing life in all its aspects and capturing varied hues associated with 'phaagun'. Kalapini Komkali is the daughter and disciple of legendary maestro Kumar Gandharva and Vasundhara Komkali. In this thematic presentation, Komkali will sing a selection of songs drawn from Kumar Gandharva’s rich repertoire, celebrating joyous 'phaagun'. Experimental Theatre, Friday, March 9, 6.30 pm.
