Muhurat of movie ‘Rakt’
A muhurat of an emotional action Marathi film 'Rakt' was recently performed in Mumbai. The film seeks to convey that one mother can take care of 10 children, but 10 children cannot look after a mother. The film depicts the story of a mother and her son. The film is based on true love that sees no discrimination. The hero of the film, Vishwas Mhatre, adores Nana Patekar. Gauri Wankhede is the heroine of the film. The film, which will be like 'Southern action packed “  film, will be shot in Ratnagiri and Goa.

Savita Damodar ready for release
The first teaser of Marathi film 'Savita Damodar Paranjape' produced by John Abraham, was recently released at a grand function. The film is slated to be released all over Maharashtra on August 31. It has been directed by Swapna Waghmare. Veteran director late Madhukar Todarmal’s daughter Trupti is essaying a lead role in this film. Subodh Bhave, Rakesh Bapat, Pallavi Patil, Angad Mhaskar and Savita Prabhune are in important roles. Commenting about the film John Abraham said, “In the last few years many Marathi movies with best quality content have been produced and I am so happy that I am producing a Marathi film. I would be happy to work on regional films having a good theme”.
 
‘Jhansi ki Rani’- goes international
'Swords and Sceptres', an English film based on life and times of Lakshmibai, the historic Queen of Jhansi, who fiercely led her army against the British in the infamous mutiny of 1857, is being produced on an international level. Indo-American actress Devika Bhise, is playing the role of Laxmibai, while the film has been scripted/ directed and is being produced by Swati Bhise, who makes her debut as a director on the film. Rupert Everett, Derek Jacobi, Ben Lamb and Jodhi May also star in the film alongside a host of established Indian-Marathi speaking actors including Nagesh Bhonsle, Yatin Karyekar, Milind Gunaji, d Ajinkya Deo. Although the film is in English, some of the dialogues are in Marathi and Hindi to add local touc . Commenting on the film Swati Bhise said that Laxmibai’s life has been ever inspiring which is a guiding force to women. Laxmibai had launched an attack on Britishers, without male support. “It’s an incredible story about a woman who fought for what she believed in. Her story is one of female empowerment, more relevant now than ever, and can be drawn upon to inspire women all around the world

Truckload of dreams
Veteran actor Makarand Deshpande and Kranti Redkar will be seen in all together different roles in the Marathi film 'Truckbhar Swapna', directed by Pramod Pawar. It is slated to be released on August 24 all over Maharashtra. Makrand is essaying a role of “Taxi Driver”, while Kranti plays the role of his wife. Besides Makarand and Kranti, Mukesh Rishi, Vijay Kadam, Manoj Joshi, Smita Tambe, Aaditi Pohankar, Asha Shelar, Vaibhavi Pawar, Prema Kiran, Janardan Lawangare, Sahil Gilbile, Jyoti Joshi, Satish Salagare, Suresh Bhagwat, Jayant G and Dipjyoti Naik are in major  roles.
