Kalasindhu Academy of Dance and Related Arts presented the debut Bharat- anatyam performance of Sakshi Srinivas at JSS auditorium. The program was noteworthy for its selection of items, presentation and precision.

Sakshi Srinivas is the disciple of accomplished Bharatanatyam exponent Guru Poornima Gururaja, who heads the Kalasindhu Academy of Dance and is credited with having trained several aspirants. A devoted teacher, Poornima, always tries to bring out the best in her students, which was quite evident in the performance.

The program commenced with the invocation 'Melaprapti' – 'Jaya Janaki Ramana' followed by the 'Chaturashra Alarippu' which is different from the normal 'Alarippu' in terms of execution and presentation. A composition of 'Mridangam Vidwan' T. S. Gopalakrishnan, the 'Mohana Jatiswaram' was striking for its fine blend of music, melody and rhythm.

Sakshi is a devoted performer, her involvement with sincerity makes her a pleasure to behold with items like the 'Keerthana' and the 'Varnam', a composition of the 'Tanjore' quarter the 'Hamsanandi Thillana' was pleasing for its footwork and rhythmic accuracy. The special guests of the evening included veteran Mohiniattam exponent Kalamandalam Usha Datar and Bharatanatyam mentor Guru Kitappa Chandrasekaran. Usha Datar praised the efforts of Guru Poornima in promoting the Indian culture by teaching Bharatanatyam in its pristine quality format. Sakshi recieved fine orchestral support from Guru Poornima Gururaja on the 'Nattuvangam', vocals by Nandakumar, 'Mridangam' by Lingaraj. flute by Kartik and violin by Ganesh. A talented dancer indeed.
