Nisha Jamvwal peeks into a male-dominated realty

Monday, September 10, 2018

Architect and interior designer Nish Jamvwal tells us she attended a realty conference last week where she was a speaker along with BJP’s Shweta Shalini and realty TV host Amit B Wadhwani. Now realty TV, we understand, is different from reality TV, in that the former is about real estate and property and the latter is about huge TRPs! We must add that to someone like us, realty can be pretty intimidating when people talk about the ‘real estate bubble’ and things like that, but we understand that it’s where the money is. Nisha was called upon to speak about how there must be more women developers, brokers and data property officials in the field. While mentioning that Mumbai is in the process of constructing a state-of-the-art metro, a new sea-link up to Versova and beyond and a spanking new airport, the savvy lady threw a question at the audience – how many of them would feel comfortable about their sisters or daughters taking a man to view an empty flat/apartment alone? The audience applauded heartily when Nisha mentioned the idea of builders creating ecosystems with in-built community kitchens. According to Nisha that would save women the headache of cooking and cleaning up afterwards for their individual families and would also be a means of establishing community bonding in this era of human isolation and alienation. The audience at the seminar, on its part, was curious to know how the lady speaker managed to multi-task with such speed and what her inspirations in life were. Later Nisha gave away the Lifetime Achievement award to Kalpataru promoter Mofatraj Munot, as Niranjan Hiranandani of the Hiranandani group and Boman R Irani of the Rustomjee group, among others, looked on.
