Who’s who? We had a real blast, poring over this cityscape that announces the wildly popular Comic Conference is coming to Mumbai on October 21 and 22. And we were charmed by the invitation design so much, that we actually tried to identify all the characters who have been subtly Mumbai-ized by their impending visit to the city. Here’s who we got. Gabbar Singh, G-One from Ra-One, Gandalf from The Lord of the Rings, Yoda and Jadoo enjoying a Mumbai bhutta, Optimis Prime from Transformers, Captain America, Krish, Jughead, Archie and someone who seems to be Veronica but is not very like her, Dexter from Dexter’s Laboratory, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Cobra Commander from G I Joe, Robocop wearing a havildar’s cap, peering into a taxi in which batman is seated with Richie Rich at the wheel, with Batwoman peering worried from behind, Asterix, Obelix, Tintin, Capn Haddock and Getafix, Heman’s sister Sheera, Bugs Bunny, Chewbacca, then Fred Flintstone, Ninja Turtle Raphael, Frodo, Spiderman and the Beast on that mela-size tumbling box giant wheel, the Incredible Hulk bashing up an autorickshaw (which we like very much indeed), The Flash, Dr Doom from Fantastic Four, Elmer Fudd and Daffy Duck, the Jetsons, Scooby Doo, Pacman and the Thing. And finally, Darth Vader is carrying a sign that for some mysterious reason reads, “Vote Andheri Side.” We will have to ask what it means in October. Enjoy the picture.
