Will Shweta Shetty create a sandstorm in Rajasthan?

Wednesday, October 10, 2018

Singer Shweta Shetty has reason to celebrate. Shweta is to be felicitated “as an icon of wellness” by a leading Asian spa magazine at an event to be held in the city soon – someone who not only looks fit and fabulous but is an achiever as well. However, that’s not all. Shweta tells us that she will be a part of the MTV Music Summit taking place this weekend in Jaipur at which stalwarts like Usha Uthup, Shankar Mahadevan and L Subramaniam will also be present. The singer will perform her classic song ‘Reth ki Rani’ (Queen of the Desert) which combines opera and pop scales and will have the deserts of Rajasthan as a fitting backdrop. Says Shweta excitedly: “I was one of the artistes MTV featured videos of when they first came to India in the early 1990s. Therefore, it’s all the more exciting to connect with them so many years later, and that too, singing a song that is an ode to Rajasthan.” We gather that the music summit, which is also being looked into by Nawaz Modi Singhania, is in its second edition and will feature a variety of musical styles – classical, folk, choir, jazz etc.  The three-day event, from October 12-14 will have performances from 7am to 4pm every day and Shweta is slated to perform on  October 13 just before Shankar Mahadevan takes the stage. Shweta’s song, she says, is a “different song” and the singer is hoping that it will “blow their (the listeners’) minds away”. Here’s wishing the vocalist with the unmistakable tresses and voice, all the very best!
