Where state flags fly

Monday, February 05, 2018

CHIEF minister Siddaramaiah of Karnataka would perhaps like to think he is ruling over a separate nation. With the help of artists, politicians and historians he has been able to prepare a separate flag for the state. Thousands of flags can be seen from now. The Congress CM does not like to be under the control of the BJP centre. Thousands of flags can be seen among these which are being flown in Karnataka from now.

Over the flag, there is bound to be clashes. Even when the National flag is to be flown, Siddaramaiah's men may forcefully fly the state flag. Hence there is bound to be clashes over this issue. The state government has spent a lot of money to produce the flag. It has ignored objections and gone ahead.
The state flag might be the idea of both Siddaramaiah and Rahul Gandhi. It could be part of their poll campaign. Rahul may campaign in a big way but it is not likely to be what it was in Gujarat. Rahul will lead the campaign, but the chief minister has a lot to do with it. The state flag must have been one of his initiatives. A big test confronts the BJP in Karnataka. The BJP president is already seen holding rallies and discussions.

The BJP will do all it can to win in Karnataka. It has tough opponents to deal with. Both PM Modi and president Amit Shah have to do some extra work if they want to get the better of CM Siddaramaiah.
