IT Training and Certification

Right to environment education
BNHS has announced its new initiative - ‘Right to Environment Education’ (RTEE) wherein free educational day tours will be conducted at its Conservation Education Centre (CEC) at Goregaon for all underprivileged groups of Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane. This is a year-long initiative which aims to reach out to municipal schools (including regional language schools), government-aided schools/colleges supporting lower-income groups, slum communities and housing societies from lower-income groups. The half-day programme includes a nature trail inside the BNHS Nature Reserve at Goregaon and Audio Visual show. Medium of instruction: Marathi and Hindi

DigiMET online contest
Institute of Digital Marketing (IDM), Mumbai and Mumbai Educational Trust (MET) has organised a first of its kind nationwide online contest for digital marketing called, DigiMET. The online contest will be open from April 1 to July 31. Students from all streams of education in the age group of 15-24 years can apply for this online contest for free.

‘DigiMET’ is open for students at an all India level. Students and those with the most excellent submissions of projects could win exciting prices up to one lakh.

The online contest offers a total prize money worth Rs.17,75,000. The winners would be felicitated in a grand event in Mumbai and their work would be showcased to the world at large. ‘DigiMET’ would be open for a period of three months with allotted dates for the beginning and completion of the contest.

Sheffield University extends scholarship deadline

Sheffield Hallam University, has announced the extension of its deadline for Indian students to apply for one of the Transform Together scholarships and the GREAT scholarships until July 31, 2014.

High-achieving students can still apply for one of the competitive Transform Together scholarships to begin a full-time course in September 2014. Scholarship winners for postgraduate courses receive a 100 per cent tuition fee discount. Successful applicants to undergraduate courses receive a 50 per cent tuition fee discount for each year of study.

As a part of the GREAT campaign from the British Council, the University is offering scholarships to six Indian students for M.Sc. Sports Business Management. Under this scholarship, each student will be awarded a scholarship worth £3,750 to study M.Sc. Sports Business Management.

To apply for a scholarship, students must first apply for a course and receive an offer from the University. The application form for the September 2014 scholarships can be downloaded from Sheffield Hallam’s website - or in person from the regional office in New Delhi.

School of EEE Scholarships
The Newcastle University’s School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) is offering undergraduate scholarships worth £3000/year to international students.

Conditions for awarding scholarship: This scholarship will be awarded to those who are considered to be Overseas Students for fee paying purposes and who meet the conditions of our offer for a place on one of the courses in the School of EEE and choosng this course as their UCAS first choice. Continuation of the scholarship in subsequent years will be conditional on achieving satisfactory performance, i.e. not less than a 55 per cent average in the previous year. The overseas scholarship will be used each year to reduce the University fees which are payable on registration. This scholarship is not available to those applicants applying for the Foundation year or who are fully sponsored by a company or government.

IIP’s Entrance exam
The Indian Institute of Packaging, a fully autonomous institute under the Ministry of Packaging, has announced 19th June 2014 as the date to conduct the entrance exam for its prestigious two year full time PG Diploma in Packaging.

To be eligible for the entrance exam, one has to be a Graduate in Science (12+3 years degree – entire 5 years in science only), with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Microbiology (any one as main subject) or Agriculture/ Food Science or Engineering or Technology with minimum second class.

The application needs to be submitted on or before 12th June, 2014 along with attested copies of mark sheets and other credentials.
