Kicking-off a unique recruitment drive that involves potential employees locking horns on the Football and Kabaddi pitch

In a unique endeavor to recruit potential candidates, Pharmaceutical Company, MidasCare partnered with Vivekanand Education Society (VES) to organize the Relispray Championship 2017. Giving conventional recruitment practices a miss, this event, titled Leadership through Sport, looked to get a better idea of a candidate's skills such as leadership, decision-making team-building, discipline, level of being socially active and ability to perform under stressful situations.

"These parameters are usually tested in any organization during rounds of interviews. We, here judge the skills on ground through sports and allow them (candidates) to skip atleast 3 rounds of interview. The candidate shall just have to give an aptitude test and appear for a final round of interview conducted by me," said Shivangi Gupta, Director, MidasCare.

This is a fresh new path from the mundane, long interviewing process conducted by most organisations. "If we see any serious playing sports at any level, we can observe the combinations of the leadership and under pressure performance were every organisation needs at this level. The go getting spark is evaluated by our recruiting team to foresee him as an best employee for us," Gupta added.

The event saw more than 60 teams participating, comprising of 750 students from institutes affiliated to Vivekanand Education Society across the city witnessing an overwhelmingly response in the gaming event, which comprised of football and kabaddi matches. Gupta went on to say, "India is witnessing a day by day change in home grown sports events from Kabaddi, Cricket, Football and many others. The country is not only producing and manufacturing the finest players in India but also making it to International levels. Our organisation always believes in concepts and converting those into reality. This concept is one of kind rarely used in India and thus we have infused our knowledge to dig out best through sports."

Once the candidate is offered a job he will be under training for a stipulated time, post to that his performance, leadership quality and hard will automatically lie ahead through experience.

Going forward, the plan is to expand to cover 5,000 colleges in this financial year in the company's search for a potentially star employee. However, how does a good sportsperson promise to be a star at the workplace too? "That is a risk we are willing to take," said Gupta. "More often than not we can see winners on the field playing the sport. Spotting them is not difficult as they will do whatever it takes to be on the winning side and that sort of go getting attitude is exactly what we are looking for in an employee."

VES, meanwhile is putting more emphasis on such activity were students can get job through sports activity, VES may come up with more such ideas to boost morale amongst all students across city. This is the second championship held by Midas Care in Mumbai following its maiden championship in Nagpur which received overwhelming response. Currently in the process of expansion across India and looking to expand its team of professionals across various departments, Midas Care is in plans to hold more such championships on a Pan-India basis.
