How do I improve my son’s grades

Wednesday, October 23, 2013

Krutika (Nita) Jaggi is doing her M.Ed in Learning Disability from S.N.D.T University. She also happens to be India’s only female crossword creator!

My son is following the NIOS syllabus. He has already done his Pre-NIOS but is not doing well. His marks are low and he is to appear for his NIOS this year. I had earlier done an LD assessment five to six years ago and he has been given a certificate. What do I do so that he can improve in his studies?
Firstly, he needs to go in for a re-assessment so that you know his latest scores. All the assessments done should be repeated every one-and-a-half year. After receiving the LD certificate, did he receive remedial sessions? If not, then immediately get a psycho-educational evaluation done and based on the report start with his remedial sessions wherein he will begin learning study skills like Mnemonics, or memory tricks, to help him remember particular facts. This will definitely help him during his examinations.

Aries (Mar 21 - Apr 20)Good news about work is likely. However, initial money may have to be put in before you can expect returns from your efforts. Travel for work is inevitable and will be well worth your efforts. Writing and correspondence will also take up a lot of your time. There could be some unexpected visitors from out of town. This could interfere with your plans for a leisurely evening doing what you like best.
