RBKIA hosts RMUN 2015

Wednesday, January 28, 2015

RBK International Academy held its second RMUN Conference recently. They had participants from five schools – RBKIA, RBK School Mira Road, Oberoi International School, Dhirubhai Ambani International School and Delhi Public School, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi.

The event was inaugurated by the chief guest Vijay Nair, CEO, OML, management representative and Dr Arundhati Hoskeri, Principal Neil Sookoo.

“I feel that every person in our school’s MUN department just started a new tradition – one that will hopefully get bigger and better every year,” said Rajaram Ramesh – RMUN 2015, director general (Class 10).

The conference consisted of three important committees of the United Nations:
1. United Nations Human Rights Council
2. Disarmament and International Security Committee
3. United Nations Security Council

Students were expected to be well versed and prepared with information about their country policies regarding the topics to be discussed. Documents like opening speeches and draft resolutions were a must-have for the delegates.

In an opening speech, the delegate is expected to talk about their country’s stance on the issue presented and what they expect to resolve.

In a resolution, the delegates need to mention specifically what they want to resolve and be able to explain each point in detail and justify it if objected by the chair or other member nations.

Other countries could be signatories in an ally country’s resolution.

In total there were around 50 delegates. Students from Class 7 up to Class 12 took part in the conference.

The secretariat, teachers, admin members and the press team worked incredibly hard to make this vision of RMUN take life.
