S.K. Somaiya College of Arts, Science and Commerce has added another feather to its hat at its Somaiya Vidyavihar campus. The new building of the college is aptly named 'Aurobindo'. The new building was inaugurated by Joseph Thomas, Dean of Cornell University in United States. "It is a privilege and honor for me to inaugurate the new building in this campus. India, is an important centre to provide education to the world. We already have students of Somaiya and Cornell University teamed up for working on various projects and we look forward to explore further possibilities of education exchange with Somaiya Vidyavihar," said Dean Joseph Thomas, Cornell University.
From a humble beginning in 1995 with 200 students and two courses, the college today boasts of a student strength of more than 5,000 who are offered 15 graduate and postgraduate courses from different streams, to choose from. The college has pioneered to introduce innovative courses like Sound Engineering, Voice modulation. Sound and Film Editing, Value based Management, Business Ethics and Yoga to facilitate overall knowledge and skill development. The college is known for its multi disciplinary approach and environment which nurtures creativity and social security.
