Today is the 25th anniversary of Andy Warhol’s death and we found five ways to rediscover the greatness of the American artist, director and writer.
Music:
Not only was he an artist but also a manager. The Velvet Underground is one of the most successful bands he supported and he even designed their sleeve with the famous banana.
Warhol Factory:
‘Factory girl’ revealed to us the Warhol factory and his work with other talented young artists. The factory was a place created to offer a platform to artists to express their talent and to create Warhol films and art.
Film:
Even if he never quit photography for films as he said, Warhol was also a pretty good film director, with movies like Sleep (which was 6 hours long), or Poor Little Rich Girl and The Thirteen Most Beautiful Boys.
Other artists of the same wave:
Warhol was a part of the Pop Art wave. If you like his work it is worth exploring other contemporary artists such as Roy Lichtenstein, Jasper Johns and Robert Rauschenberg.
Painting:
If you still cannot match Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor’s famous portraits with their creator, no need to look further, you have your man. Andy Warhol was the king of screen printing and those are some of his most famous pieces of art, as was the Campbell’s soup can.
