Song sung true – that’s what it was as young Avanti Nagral took the microphone and sang straight from the heart. This multi-talented young artist from Bombay and Boston was introduced and launched by Ashish Manchanda’s Flying Carpet Productions at Shiro. It was time to listen to her debut English single titled ‘I Like’ that she wrote and composed. It was also time for a presentation of India’s first 360 degree VR (virtual reality) music video. The song, you learnt, is a rendition of Avanti’s hybrid personal and musical identity. It has an addictive chorus that depicts girl power and is all about following your dreams, your passions and being independent in your thoughts, irrespective of public opinion. Emceed by Mihir Joshi, the evening saw the presence of Hindustani classical vocalist Dr. Prabha Atre, Ranjit Barot, Ehsaan Noorani, Loy Mendonsa, Luke Kenny, Lubna Adam, Shamita Singha, Gavin Miguel and Nisha Harale.
