Know More: Quit Juuling around!

There’s a new craze in the e-cig market, and it is so well designed that it looks like a fancy USB drive rather than an e-cigarette. Pearl Mathias tells you more about the JUUL

We recently got into a discussion revolving around the e-cigarette — how it has transformed and what its dangers might be. Although some may argue that a vape is a less life-threatening alternative to smoking an actual cigarette, we couldn’t help but muse at these innovations. Before we could come to a conclusion on our debate, another fad caught our attention on social media. A JUUL, an e-cigarette that looks nothing like anything you would put up to your mouth. Yet, a JUUL claims to give you a “genuinely satisfying vapor experience”.

Unlike a regular e-cigarette, a JUUL is designed to look like a sort of USB drive. It is helped by the fact that it can be charged by plugging it into the flash drive slot of your computer! Their flavours are what make them attractive — crème brulee, cool cucumber and mango — and reports online have stated that the device’s design makes it convenient to carry around because people don’t know it is an e-cigarette.

According to the official website, the JUUL e-cigarette was designed to “provide nicotine satisfaction to meet the standards of smokers, but the flavour and feel is naturally unique”. The creators say that JUUL wasn’t made to be a harmless device, just a less harmful one. Cigarettes have over 7,000 chemicals in them and a JUUL, it is claimed, has far fewer harmful ingredients and carcinogens, making it a less harmful device.
