The scanty rainfall over the last three years which culminated in the serious drought this year, has forced everyone to look heavenwards. Until recently only at the fag end of the summer would farmers anxiously gaze at the skies to scout for rain bearing clouds. It was this aspect of rural life that turned the attention of Dr. G Pandithurai (48), a Phd in aerosol studies, to dig deeper into why the clouds hovering above us behave the way they do during the monsoon season.
