Khelo India, Cheers for Maharashtra

Friday, February 09, 2018

Catch them young is true for sports in general and the Maharashtra athletes are reaping a rich harvest of gold, silver and bronze medals in track and field events in New Delhi. With a bag of 39 medals, the Maharashtra state tops the list. Delhi with more tally of medals but with 12 gold medals stands second. It is encouraging to note that shot putter Abhishek Singh of Uttar Pradesh and Aparna Roy of Kerala were declared as the best athletes in the track and filed events in the inaugural Kelo India School Games. Maharashtra's Rakesh Gond won the boy's poll vault clearing 4.70 m in a best leap. Kerala boys and Maharashtra girls won the 4x400 relay in a close race. Khelo India movement is taking shape in sports circle, thanks to the initiating taken by PM in encouraging sports from the grass root level. It was an excellent show by the Maharashtra men and women and we feel proud to be number one on medals tally in the first Khelo India School Games. Kudos to team Maharashtra.
