Mrs. India, an unforgettable icon

Monday, March 05, 2018

The Magnitude of Celebrities and Fans who attended the Last Rites of the Super Star of Indian Films Sridevi is a tribute to the immense love and popularity she had in the industry! She died very young as 54 is still the prime matured age for living! The 3-Gun Salute was testimony to her recognition by the Indian Nation, who decorated her during her lifetime with a Padma Shri, which few have got in the Film Industry! Sridevi will be forever remembered by the people!

(Ref. to page 2 and 3; March 1) In her death, Sridevi conquered all hearts in India. We had always admired her for her acting, dancing, histrionics, etc. However, the spontaneous outpouring of grief at her sudden departure, made her the Queen of all hearts in India. Never before have I seen such anguish at the death of an artist. Sridevi was not a political leader, but she ruled the sentiments of lovers of art. A whole nation held its breath when the Dubai police was reviewing her death. And everyone sighed with relief when the case was closed. Congratulations to the government and the Mumbai police for giving her a dignified State send-off with the national flag wrapped around her mortal remains. She deserved the national honour and salute. As the Amul hoarding summed it, she was truly "Mrs. India". A national icon of India, has gone away. Sridevi's memory and honour, will inspire her daughters and all girls in India to achieve their full potential.

A child artist Baby Sridevi came to Mother earth 54 years back and left in grace in 2018 and that too in an alien country Dubai, a place away from her Andheri West Lokandwala Complex home where she stayed with husband Boney Kapoor and two daughters Jhanvi and Khushi. She worked with full devotion and her roles made a difference in every movie and her image of a child will always remain immortal to all her fans, who loved her passion till the end. Wherever she went, she with so full of life and grace and that wonderful smile that kept her mind at peace, and a super ace of hearts. She excelled and got rewarded and appreciations backed by great performances on the Big screens of Bollywood. She kept her work very close to her heart. Radio Nasha 91.9 condoled her sad demise by playing songs on their popular show 7 am to 10 am. Hats off to the actress who helped so many people in her simple journey of life; and her parents, her source of strength. May her soul rest in peace. She has been a gift for the film industry without an iota of a doubt. God bless her husband and children and give them the courage to stay strong.

Mumbai is a city with a heart as a sea of mourners paid their last tribute to the late Sridevi who was given a tearful adieu by not just people belonging to bollywood, but her large fan following as well. Recipient of Padma Shri, Sridevi's body was neatly wrapped in the national flag and that was a fitting tribute to one of the greatest actresses, the world of  cinema has ever witnessed. Her body was finally laid to rest after a lot of controversy surrounding her death, but she would remain 'alive' in the hearts of her fans for decades to come. An actress par excellence is no more but her work would inspire young talent in the glittering world of cinema to emulate or reach near her success. The government should institute an award in the memory of Sridevi which should be given to the best budding talent in the world of entertainment every year as a mark of remembrance of one of the finest actress of our times!
